On Sleep / Insomnia
[12] So David took the spear and water jug near Saul’s head, and they left. No one saw or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up. They were all sleeping, because the Lord had put them into a deep sleep.
-------
[57] At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, [58] dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.
[59] While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” [60] Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep.
-------
[15] Laziness brings on deep sleep,
and the shiftless go hungry.
-------
[13] Do not love sleep or you will grow poor;
stay awake and you will have food to spare.
-------
[12] The sleep of a laborer is sweet,
whether they eat little or much,
but as for the rich, their abundance
permits them no sleep.
-------
[21] My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
preserve sound judgment and discretion;
[22] they will be life for you,
an ornament to grace your neck.
[23] Then you will go on your way in safety,
and your foot will not stumble.
[24] When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
