Fear Alone
[8] From heaven you pronounced judgment,
and the land feared and was quiet—
[9] when you, God, rose up to judge,
to save all the afflicted of the land.
[10] Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,
and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
[11] Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
let all the neighboring lands
bring gifts to the One to be feared.
[12] He breaks the spirit of rulers;
he is feared by the kings of the earth.

[14] Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.

[11] For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
[12] as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
[13] As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
[14] for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.

[33] Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord,
and humility comes before honor.

[6] Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for;
through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided.

[18] There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
